monitoring methods for vibration measurements in
condition monitoring as well as related terminology. The standard is intended to be utilized in the
selection of the monitoring method suitable for a
specific application as well as harmonize and
standardize the terminology used. -
PSK 5707 - Vibration measurements in condition monitoring. Diagnosis
This standard presents instructions for the interpretation of vibration measurement results in condition monitoring.
The standard defines faults and their detection methods in rotating machines using the monitoring methods given in standard PSK 5706. In addition, the vibratory effect of structural properties shall be taken into consideration according to standard PSK 5708. The faults can case by case appear in other ways than presented in this standard.
When fault diagnosis is performed other information than given by vibration measurements, such as perceptions, machine history, operational conditions and other measurements, shall be used.
This standard is not intended to be used as acceptance criterion in an acceptance test. -
PSK 5708 - Condition monitoring. Vibration measurement. Structural vibration properties
This standard deals with the impacts of the structural
properties of machines on vibrations and it presents
the requirements of the properties. The measurements of the structural vibration
properties are covered to the extent where they can
be performed using field measurements. -
PSK 5709 - Condition monitoring. Operation follow-up. Key figures
This standard defines the key figures to follow up the
efficiency and economy of condition monitoring and
to improve its performance. -
PSK 5711 - Condition monitoring. Prognosis of safe operational time
This standard presents procedures for the
prediction of a safe operational time for
machines and equipment. Procedures for
timing of maintenance and repair activities
using vibration measurements are also
presented. The standard can also be applied to results
achieved using other monitoring methods to
estimate the safe operational time. -
PSK 5712 - Condition monitoring. Control and measurement of piping vibration
This standard deals with the reasons and
consequences of piping vibration and gives
instructions for the prevention of dangerous
piping vibration. The standard defines an
acceptable upper limit below which the
vibration is not dangerous. -
PSK 5713 - Condition monitoring. Vibration measurement. Calibration of measurement system
This standard provides information on the
requirements for the calibration of vibration
measurement systems, allowable inaccuracies and
the calibration process. This standard applies to separately specified
systems or parts of them. A functional check in
compliance with standard PSK 5715 applies to
other cases. -
PSK 5714 - Condition monitoring. Consideration of vibration monitoring in machine procurement
This standard provides instructions for taking into account the needs of vibration monitoring in the various stages during machine procurement. Standard PSK 5722 gives guidelines and sets out
requirements for procurement and delivery of a
condition monitoring system. -
PSK 5715 - Condition monitoring. Vibration measurement. Functional check of measurement system
This standard provides instructions for performing a functional check on a measurement system before, during and after the measurement.
The functional check performed by the user ensures that the measurement system is working correctly.
The procedures described in this standard supplement the calibration procedure in standard PSK 5713, but do not replace it. -
PSK 5716 - Vibration measurements in condition monitoring. Torsional vibration
This standard defines the key concepts of torsional
vibration and presents the requirements for the
torsional vibration of machines as well as instructions

delivery of a condition monitoring system. The content is focused on vibration measurement and
deals with other condition monitoring methods at a
general level. -
PSK-käsikirja 2 - Instrument installation
Handbook comprises standards PSK 5201 to 5210 concerning instrument installation hook-up drawings. When compiling the standards we have not pursued to establish new installation techniques, instead we have standardized solutions that have been most common and deemed good in practice. A sound price/quality relation has been one criterion. The mode of presentation is a simplified, axonometric assembly drawing whenever possible and applicable. The selected mode of presentation has been the most widely used, so it is deemed to be the most suitable for this purpose, as these drawings can be interpreted without any language skills. A deliberate decision was not to make the standards strictly binding, as installation techniques vary in different lines of industry. The purpose of the standards is to serve as a basis for preparing installation documentation that would ensure the best possible results specific to a project or line of industry. The number of installation hook-up drawings has been limited to a minimum to keep them easy to find.
The presented installation method does not take a stand on where the measurement has been located or to which position the process pipe has been installed. The location of measurements in the process is presented in the standard SFS 5059, Instrumentation. Location of process instruments. Structures related to splash guarding, insulation or similar features are not defined in the installation hook-up drawings contained in the manual, these specifications have been left out for installation cost reasons wherever they are not absolutely necessary. These issues need to be observed as required by circumstances and shall be specified in purchase documentation. The presentation of isolator switches installed in the main actuator circuit, required for preventing accidental start-up, and interlocking switches installed in the control circuit, preventing accidental start-up, is deemed to belong to electrification instructions, so they are not presented in installation hook-up drawings. Delivery limits for all parts and items of equipment have been defined in compliance with the standard PSK 3301, Instrumentation. Share of the responsibility for design, purchase and installation, in order to ensure that the responsibility for purchases and installation be unambiguously determined. The limits of responsibility must be checked to comply with purchase and installation circumstances.
