This standard provides instructions, requirements and recommendations for the procurement, design and manufacture of pressure equipment according to the sound engineering practice.In this standard, pressure equipment refers to all
piping and vessels made of steel or other technical
assemblies where is or can be pressure exceeding
the atmospheric pressure. Pressure equipment of sound engineering practice
are pressure equipment to which the essential safety
requirements of the pressure equipment directive
2014/68/EU or simple pressure vessels directive
2014/29/EU are not applied. In case of piping these
are pipings belonging to category 0. The requirements of this standard can also be applied to pressure equipment with a maximum pressure of 0,5
bar(g). References to the sound engineering practice in legislation and standards have been compiled in information for guidance O.1. The recommendations of the standard can also be
applied to pressure accessories, such as valves and filters, which are manufactured in series production.The standard does not apply to boilers or other flame-heated pressure vessels. This standard does not apply to natural gas, biomethane or liquefied petroleum gas piping, even if they would belong to the group ‘sound engineering practice' according to the pressure equipment directive. -
PSK 4902 - Pressure vessels. Placement, accessories and operation
This standard provides instructions for the installation, accessories and operation of unfired pressure vessels. It can also be applied to other pressure equipment as appropriate. The pressure vessels may be a separate equipment or part of the pressure equipment assembly. When applying the standard industrial branch specific
regulations, standards and instructions shall be considered, which are for instance for pressure vessels of refrigerating systems. This standard also applies to each pressure vessel
belonging to the pressure equipment assembly. For liquified petroleum gas (LPG), biogas, hydrogen
and natural gas vessels, the special requirements set by legislation shall also be considered. The act 390/2005 of safe handling and storage of
dangerous chemicals and explosives, as amended,
sets requirements for pressure vessels and non-pressure vessels containing hazardous chemicals. Further instructions can be found in standard PSK 4905. -

PSK-käsikirja 3 - Vibration measurement in condition monitoring
The 21st edition of the handbook aptly reflects the ongoing technical advancements in the field. Additionally, it is a testament to the 35 years of dedication and enthusiasm of workgroup PSK57 . The success or effectiveness of condition monitoring can be evaluated by the operational rate of machines and its impact on the daily lives of the company and its employees. Quality, occupational safety, and the environment are today's key values in the effectiveness of condition monitoring. Poorly maintained machines, unexpected production outages, and generally the start-up/shutdown of processes produce poor quality. By reducing unplanned downtimes, more consistent production quality can be achieved. Fewer accidents occur when machines do not need to be unexpectedly repaired in operational conditions. Condition monitoring can significantly reduce unexpected machine breakdowns and shift more towards controlled repairs. Faulty machines and additional process start-ups/shutdowns, in turn, increase energy consumption and emissions. Additionally, machine breakdowns increase the need for spare parts recycling, so the environment also benefits from condition monitoring. Online condition monitoring is the core of the matter. For several years, it has been possible to obtain measurement data on machine vibrations, but it has not necessarily been acted upon correctly. Today's PSK standards provide model solutions that are applied to practical situations. Thus, at the machine's operating site, the machine's behavior can be analyzed, and it can be assessed whether the machine needs immediate repair or can last until the next planned downtime. PSK Standardization aims for a comprehensive solution to condition monitoring methods and, in its role, produces impartial standards to which both the customer and the supplier can safely commit. The standard series provides condition monitoring guidelines from the procurement stage to the refurbishment stage at the end of the machine's lifecycle. The goals have been set high in the making of this handbook, and now it is the reader's turn to set goals for their own condition monitoring work. Setting the bar high becomes easier when it is understood how many parties are truly affected by well-implemented online condition monitoring.
