This standard gives general instructions about preparing process diagrams and vector-formatted layouts with CAD systems in 2D format. The grouping of documents as well as the concepts and definitions are described in standard PSK 2620.

The purpose of this standard is to unify drawing systems in order to facilitate the utilisation of drawings between planning partners and to guarantee to the end-user the availability of uniform and easily updated drawings.

The standard can be used to ensure successful data transmission between documents that have been prepared using different systems. The minimum requirements for transmission are as follows:

1 The drawing file must be identified by the receiving system.
2 The drawing file must open without failure in the receiving system.
3 The drawing file must be plotable in a format that fulfils the existing requirements.
4 The drawing file must be maintainable in the receiving system.
