This standard is intended for use as a technical document of the procurement of switchgear and controlgear assemblies, hereinafter assemblies, which rated operational voltage does not exceed 1000 V. The standard supplements for process industry assemblies part general requirement presented in the standard SFS-EN 60439-1, Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies. Part 1: Type -tested and partially type-tested assemblies. Basic requirements for assemblies and their mounting are given in chapter 810 of the standard SFS 6000. The standard primarily deals with cubicle-type assemblies for a.c. The standard can be applied also to other types of assemblies such as d.c. ones. In the text of the standard there are presented the recommended essential requirements for the construction of assemblies and arguments for the selections. For electrical equipment of machines belonging under the Machine Safety Directive, the standard SFS-EN 60204-4 is also applied. In the appendixes of the standard there are the procurement specifications by means of which the purchaser specifies the selected assembly to the supplier as a part of the procurement program.
