This standard defines the identification colours for fluids conveyed in pipes, instructions for the application of identification markings and the layout of identification labels.The purpose of the pipe identification markings is to provide information on the piping contents required for operation and maintenance works as well as training of new personnel. Furthermore, the markings provide information on the pipe contents and related hazards. Especially in disturbance and hazard situations, the markings help the operating,
firefighting and rescue personnel take correct action. This standard can be applied in design and procurement. The identification colour provides basic information on the properties of the fluid conveyed in the pipe according to the classification specified in the
standard.The identification marking identifies the flow medium conveyed in the pipe, physical state of the medium and direction of flowldentification markings shall be used in industrial piping and HVAC piping. The standard is also applicable in other fields.This standard also applies to the markings of piping for medical gases. Standard PSK 0902 provides instructions and model templates for the markings of equipment and piping in industry.In case of piping in the ship and marine industry as well as freshwater piping in areas where seawater is used, markings shall comply, for example, with standards ISO 20560-1:2020 and ISO 14726:2008.
