The penetrations in industrial buildings have been a gray area for both process plant and building designers. Both parties have expected something from each other that they have not always been able to define clearly. The goal in creating the standard series has been to clarify the fundamental solutions for penetrations to both parties using type drawings. By publishing this handbook, PSK Standardization provides simplified information on various types of penetrations, which supports application-specific design. However, the standards in the handbook do not take a stance on application-specific design, as there are limitless options. Each standard represents a type solution but allows the user to make more precise size and material specifications. The standards are intended to be used as construction task drawings and for penetration procurements in both domestic and international projects. They have been prepared by experts from the client, supplier, design, contracting, and technical education sectors, representing the best practices currently available. Individual standards are not published in printed versions elsewhere than in this handbook. However, PSK Standardization members receive them in PDF format via the Internet. Additionally, the images of the standards are available for further design in PDF, DWG, and DXF formats.
